Moments Of Inspiration: My Story with Damilola Aroyewun

A chapter of my story...

It's so beautiful to know that this story of mine is still been written, including this chapter we are on.

Just because this is an ongoing chapter in my life, I feel the urge to choose to share it amongst others.

Let's go back the memory lane...to my boarding house secondary school days in Ibadan, Nigeria. There I was a young girl in SS1 when my hunger for success was awoken...I really can't point to what drove my hunger (I like to think it's my mum's unending prayers, you know.... Just by the way).

It had been a norm for me to get my Mathematics assignment/test/exam score as a 30 something percent. I began to get so worried and then I really became so dissatisfied that I got up and walked to my school's 'guidance and counsellor' office...who was a young woman then. I poured out my heart to her of how I failed Mathematics and how I really wanted to do much better. She was pleasantly surprised that a student could come to her to discuss academics rather than her having to summon me in to discuss my bad scores as she usually had to (to students who fail consecutively).

Her advise to me was so simple but so powerfully that it changed my life so much academically hence, till date... She said with so much confidence that for me to be concerned about my success... I definitely have greatness in me. She said whatsoever one can think or imagine of one's self...it is definitely possible to achieve. She advised that I pick up my mathematics text book and study each chapter one after another and practice each and every question in my textbook and mark with the answers at the back of the textbook....

I was truly so excited about trying her advise out as the manner of which she spoke to me was so reassuring that I really do have greatness in me and I suddenly got the soothing mind set that I was as a mathematics 'Albert Einstein'..... And like magic this worked wonders! I slowly and steadily saw my marks transform from 30s to 70s and 80s and finally to the days where I got 98% regularly.... This transformation was so beautiful and real that I was so keen to try it on majority of my other subjects, expect about 2 subjects I really was just not so interested in.... I then transformed from being a mediocre student to being the top of my class "best science student" with the 1st price in all the science subjects and of course mathematics

I really should read this chapter of story over and over again myself.... It's really so simple to forget the simple lesson here.... Everyone can create the results they so desire as long as it is first conceived in the mind. A mind that believes in possible achievement of a set task is unstoppable.

Thus my tried and tested formulae for sustainable success is simply:

Faith (in God & in God in one's self) + passion = success

The bible summarises this beautifully...

Proverbs 23:7 "For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he"

No one can do this for us....we need to believe in ourselves, by ourselves. Trust God and put your faith to action.... Nothing is absolutely impossible. Success is achievable, even great success is in reach with a heart that believes!

Love,
Damilola
