Most people have a profile; speakers, real estate
agents, life coaches, strategists, authors and the list goes on. One question I
have for you is this ‘’the titles and profession you identify yourself with, are
they mere decorative words or actual words in practice?’’ My video director Oma Ejims and I worked on a
video-script, stage design and recording for a presentation I did for Global
Changers Forum last year for about five hours after which I edited it for about
an hour. I thought about the experience after the session, I thought within
myself ‘’I shouldn’t have taken that long to produce the video’’. I later did
an evaluation and came up with some truth about the importance of practice and
its link with performance.
Preparation is key in achieving one’s dreams no doubt but
practice also has its own place. You
can prepare but if you don’t practice, you can’t test the value, validity and
vitality of your preparation. When I talk about practice, I am not just
focusing on someone into athletics, but everyone who intends to master a skill
or any knowledge area. I’ve discovered that you don’t get better by preparation
but by practice. If you have prepared well, it will show in your practice. It’s
better to PRACTICE the LITTLE that you KNOW, than for you to PREPARE to KNOW
EVERYTHING and NEVER PRACTICE A BIT OF ANYTHING.
“Mastery
comes from your PRACTICE. Anyone who is not willing to PRACTICE, is not willing
to gain MASTERY”- Onyinye Etoniru.
Do you wonder why Jesus said that it is not those that
hear that are blessed but those that DO the will of His FATHER? There are a lot of SAYERS in this
generation, but the world does not need sayers but DOERS. It’s the DOERS that
make a difference, not the SAYERS. Think about any area of your life, you have
just done a lot of SAYING; it’s time for you to quit saying and start DOING.
This reminds me of my devotion today. FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD. You can have
all the faith, without a PROOF of works you may faith it all the way and never
get to your destination.
When you PRACTICE, you are ENGAGING knowledge and in
the process you are GROWING YOUR ABILITY. People run away from PRATICE, it’s
like exams…you’ve spent time preparing and learning, now it’s time to test
yourself. But PRACTICE, no matter how hard and strenuous, is the part that’s
important.
“Without PRACTICE, there can’t be IMPROVEMENT”-Onyinye
Etoniru.
“The way anything is developed is through practice,
practice, practice, practice, practice, practice and more practice”-Joyce
Meyer. Don’t let your RESULTS deter you from PRACTISING MORE, get feedback,
learn and keep doing it again and again, until you…no until.
“Practice is the hardest part of learning, and training
is the essence of transformation.”
-Ann Voskamp.
As long as you are clear about God’s dreams for you
and you are certain about what you intend to do, PREPARE and PRACTICE MORE. If
you want to be a writer and author, you should be writing every day. In the
process you’ll learn and get better at writing. I usually write my script at
the beginning when I started my show; but now I don’t write scripts any longer,
I just do my show.
My point is that if you are a coach, coach people; in
the process you are practising your craft. If you are a marketing consultant,
social media consultant or producer or pastor or speaker, practice what you say
you do. Don’t wait for opportunities, go create the opportunities. Seek for
opportunities to express your craft, paid or unpaid. They may not be paying
you, but you are paying yourself in ways they don’t know. You want to gain
MASTERY and have a proof of RESULTS, so ENLARGE your CAPACITY with PRACTICE. I
got my first paid job in United Kingdom practising. I wanted to help a retail
business and ended up consulting for them and getting paid. You can do the
INTERNAL PRACTICE MORE and then the EXTERNAL PRACTICE MUCH MORE. My point is
that whatever skill you want to learn or whatever you want to be, you can only
BECOME BY DOING, not wishing or thinking. I hope you are challenged to live a
life PRACTISING YOUR CRAFT and not JUST PROCLAIMING YOUR CRAFT.
“You are what you practice most.- ”Richard Carlson.
If you care about your dreams, if you are serious about making a difference with this one life you’ve got, then LIVE BY DOING.

If you care about your dreams, if you are serious about making a difference with this one life you’ve got, then LIVE BY DOING.
If you love God’s dreams for you. You love designing,
love building businesses, love helping people, love painting, prove your love.
You don’t need to justify your love, you don’t need to explain your love, you
just need to practice your love. If you have to start somewhere, why not HERE,
where you are. If you have to start sometime, why not NOW. Start practising
your craft. Most skills I have learnt throughout my lifetime, I have learnt by
DOING not by going through any paid TRAINING. So you CAN.
“For the things we have to learn before we can do
them, we learn by doing them.”-Aristotle.
There is SOMETHING DIFFERENT about those that PRACTICE
their DREAMS, they eventually LIVE THEIR DREAMS. It’s being worth it sharing
with you. A big thanks to a rare jewel and an inspiration to this generation, CHUKWU UJU for the opportunity to share
on her platform. Please don’t forget to leave your comments, I would love to
hear from you.
